This has been a mantra at Filasky’s for as long as I can remember. It may even be handwritten on a sign behind the counter. We believe that each fresh picked fruit or vegetable has a place in our daily diets for a finite time throughout the year. Spring crops bolt when it gets too hot and sweet corn may stretch into October if we are lucky. That fresh picked taste is fleeting. We freeze a few quarts and preserve a few jars to hold us over the winter, but they are not the same as biting into a warm tomato or eating corn on the cob that was picked that morning. Get them while they are fresh, because you will miss them when they are gone...for this season.
